Giuseppe De Matola was a famous Italian rock'n'roll saxophonist. Born and raised in Naples, he fell in love with rock'n'roll and chose the saxophone as the best instrument to appropriately express this musical genre. A natural talent for music, with an impeccable ear, he could perform anything after hearing it once. He loved the saxophone because he could evoke its most sensual sounds. He participated in international tours and was a support musician for many famous Italian singers.
He studied physics and mathematics at Federico II University, undertaking a technical career in TrenItalia, and then becoming an independent consultant for a communications company.
He lived a full life, surrounded by many friends who throughout his life appreciated his intelligence, sense of humor, passionate nature and kindness.
After retiring he dedicated himself to cooking,
becoming an excellent chef.
Always up to date with the latest technologies, he had a thousand passions up until the end, from astrophysics to football, being a die-hard fan of the "Azzurri", his Napoli team.
To remember Giuseppe De Matola's passion for music and the sax, Ann Pizzorusso, his life partner, established the "Giuseppe De Matola Scholarship" intended for saxophone students of the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory, the oldest conservatory music in the world.
